Our Favorite Training Treats

Training treats are a special type of dog treat that is used specifically for training purposes. They are different from normal treats in that they are not meant to be eaten as a snack but rather used as a reward for good behavior. Typically, they are smaller in size and lower in calories, so you don't have to worry about your dog having too many or getting overweight from them. This way, you can consistently reward dogs over and over again when teaching them new tricks.

There are many different training treats available on the market, but here are our favorites that we use in our own home. And they happen to also be perfect for use with the treat-tossing feature of Furbo's or in treat dispensing toys!

Full Moon Pet Training Treats

These treats are probably all of our dogs' favorites. The first ingredients are organic chicken or duck, organic cane sugar, and organic flaxseed - all USDA certified organic. Their treats are grain-free and free of glycerin and fillers that can be fattening to dogs. They also have larger savory sticks for big rewards or on the go since they can be broken into smaller pieces easily. I've loved all of the full moon pet treats and have been using them with our dogs for years now. You can find them on Amazon, Chewy, Walmart, Target or their website (you can sign up for 20% off!)

Polka Dog Training Treats

We stumbled upon these while we spent some time in Chicago, and they were at all the cute dog boutique shops. And they came in super helpful when training the Aussies to getting used to walking in the city. The best part was that they are super small, so it was perfect for Oakley while we were trying to get her to shed a few pounds. They're also not greasy or crumbly at all so it was super easy to load up our pockets with these and walk the dogs all over the city. Our favorites were the wonder nuggets and the chicken littles but they have a bunch of different flavors. You can get them on Chewy, Amazon, and on their website.

Brutus and Barnaby Training Treats

We've trusted this brand and all their treats, as well as supplements. They have tons of single-ingredient chews and treats that our dogs have loved, and they recently came out with these training treats. These are made with only real ingredients, and no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. Made with chicken, sweet potato, and buckwheat flour. You can get them on Amazon or their website.

West Paw Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Treats

These are a new training treat to our lineup, but they're quickly becoming a favorite. They're freeze-dried raw dog treats that are sourced and made in the USA from humanely and sustainably raised animals. These make a great training option because they're low calorie, high protein, and have a long shelf life. Their superfood options also have phytonutrients, beta-carotene, and antioxidants that are easy to digest. They come in a few different flavors, but we love the beef liver and duck with superfood. You can find them on Amazon, Only Natural Pet, or their website.

Plato Pet Treats Small Bites

The Small Bites are bite-sized, meaty morsels that are the perfect size for training and also support healthy digestion. They come in 3 flavors; salmon, chicken, and duck. We love that they are limited-ingredient and grain-free, with different vegetables and fruits like tomato, cranberry, and blueberry. You can purchase them on Amazon, Petco, Chewy, or on their website.

The Honest Kitchen Parmesan Pecks

The Honest Kitchen thinks that good dogs shouldn't have to eat boring treats! That's why their Parmesan Pecks are made with ranch-raised beef and real cheese. Each one is 4 calories and is easy to snap in half for portion control or smaller dogs. We've trusted The Honest Kitchen with their food additions as well, and love their freeze-dried mixes! You can purchase them on Amazon, Petco, Chewy, Only Natural Pet, or their website.

Crazy Dog Train-Me Training Rewards

These dog treats have been recommended by tons of professional trainers, and they are free of corn, soy, BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin. They come in different size bags and different size treats, which comes in really handy when working with smaller dogs or puppies! You can find them on Amazon, Chewy, Petco, or their website.

Stella and Chewy's Crav'n Bac'n Bites

These training treats are made with real bacon, and your dog will love the taste. They're made in the USA and they are only 3 calories per treat. They are sold in specialty dog stores, and also Amazon and Chewy.

Zuke's Training Treats

Zuke's makes three types of training treats: they have their mini naturals, puppy naturals, and crunchy naturals. They are made in the USA, and free of corn, wheat, soy, fillers, by-products, and artificial colors and flavors. They are a trusted brand and are found in all the big brands like Amazon, Petco, Petsmart, and Chewy.

We've always taken the health and nutrition of our dogs seriously and only use the best training treats when working with our dogs. We've tried a lot of different brands and types, but the ones listed above are our favorites. Check out our full list of our favorite treats for all kinds of goodies!
